Hmmmm - and how many little ones do you know Sherlock? I think nanna or nanny is far better than grannie or granny.
I think grandparents are forever getting younger and I certainly would not like to be addressed as a granny ... reminds me of granny in the Beverly

Being from a family of 8 siblings, I have known quite a few in my time, my mother shortly before her death 20 years ago had 38 grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren and 2 great great great grandchildren, all of whom used to visit on a regular basis (not all at once I hasten to add), So over the years I have known quite a few little ones (by the way mum prefered granny or gran)

Wow! 38 grandchildren! I bet you all had a super time at Christmas and parties!
The older grandchildren call me nan (amongst other things I bet lol!... ) and my OH is always called grandad.
The younger ones call me nanna - I think it's maybe because it's a bit easier to say when they are first learning to talk.

Mine were Nana Williamson and Maw Maxwell. Always used the surnames. I am a granny to 2 gran to the oldest one and will be a granny again in June. Weatherwax seemed to be the one to emulate
