Default Google Analytics - Good or Bad?

Hi, am having a website built and the person building it has told me that he reckons Goolgle Analytics would be good to use with it. However I know nothing about it. I have searched using a well known hub, looking for details of a personal account which I think I have read about somewhere. Unfortunately I can find no info about it. Does anyone out there know if such a thing exists? And also can you give me your views about GA - is it worth having or not?

    Thanks

From what I have read IMO it is worth it.

    Hi,
I have access to GA, but don't understand a word of it - and haven't the foggiest how to make use of the figures. Must be some sort of aid that explains it all and other threads have mentioned analysis, might pay to search on previous threads.

Google Analytics is very good, as are their webmaster tools and search console. They all have a learning curve but there is copious free training from Google and help files etc. If you ever want to sell on your website most buyers will want to see about 6 months of GA stats. Well worth the effort and free. You use your gmail to login to all Google services. You may want to set up a fresh gmail account for your website and for use with GA
    Hope this helps,
    Jill

Thanks for the tip about a temperate gmail account Jill, I have been running the one I have down for sometime now as I go fed up of the spamming. (Not quite as bad as talk talk were, but bad enough. Four years ago I searched for details of Newquay in Cornwall for a holiday and I am still getting spam from google suggesting options. That plus the relentless on-slaught from the Big River and I have more or less abandoned it. So another ID would be a good idea.

Also thanks to dpetes and pastime for their contributions.
