Have you ever had an experience with a scammer?

I listed an item on a free ads site yesterday for £50 and got a reply within 20 minutes. I didn’t realise until this morning at 5:30am. I replied and told her where I lived and asked when they wanted to collect. She replied almost immediately and asked if I could post.

If I gave her my PayPal address, she might not reply and use my name, home address and PayPal address for fraud.

I’ve had similar fraud attempt messages on FeeBay, from hijacked FeeBay accounts, but they are quickly removed.

I’m not sure how eBid and Gumtree deal with this. Have you ever given out your PayPal address and got burnt?

Not sure why you would think it was a scam ? Anyone who sells for free as an ordinary seller on eBid needs to send an invoice to their buyer via Paypal themselves. If you don't want to do this on the free ads site then just tell her it's collection only.

You don't give out your Paypal address. You send a request for money to their email address via Paypal. This request is transmitted to the other party who pay via Paypal and the money is transferred to your Paypal account. THe other party will have your email address but not your Paypal password.
