Does anyone know what the definition of 'elderly' is in respect to reserved shopping hours? The term is constantly used with no indication as to what it actually means. It used to be considered 65 and older, but with people living longer the age when you were deemed 'elderly' may have shifted to an older age.

I don't know about the supermarkets but the government seem to keep talking about the over 70's. I expect because they want the option in the future to be able to delay my pension by yet another three years !

In the shopping context it seems to be 70 or older. In other words the age group which has been advised to self isolate or be cocooned for 12 weeks. Sainsburys apparently will be using the official database of those who were deemed to be vulnerable and therefore got the letter.

Now it's Johnson and Hancock who can get Covid 19 tests when NHS staff can't.

We had a washing machine delivered with installation and taking away the old one today. We paid John Lewis £45 for installation. They arrived at 8.30am for a 2.00pm appointment, because of cancellations, only to be told they cannot come in the house because of Covid-19.
Now imagine two over 70s with medical issues trying to detach a washing machine and carry it through the house. Then the other way with a new machine. We did it eventually, but still recovering, using the last of our paracetamol for the backache.
The consequences of the virus are not just about what isn't in supermarkets.

Bill we both hope they will pay you the £45 back , would hate to do that with ours. suppose all the employers are trying to protect everyone.

I gather according to the news they are starting to test the NHS staff today & over the next few days, lets hope this will enable them to see where its going with this. All the reports & ideas that are coming up are saying this is the peak weekend coming up.
