Been rummaging in the loft.....

Been rummaging in the loft found these knifes, does anyone know what they are called? ( both heavy & blade to handle 42.5cms approx)




I’m going to put them back where I found them, thought I would pop a note in with them for next person to find.

Can't really see the top one well as it doesn't open up any larger but I would guess a bayonet.
Bottom one,my initial thought was turkish so,scimitar?
But don't be RELIANT on my answer.

I have written a note to say I found these during lockdown 2020, they might be a bayonet & scimitar (Turkish ?). Wrapped them back up and will put them back where I found them in loft today.

Husband says that the top one is definitely a bayonet and probably French.

The top one is undoubtedly a bayonet.

The bottom one, well if could get to the British Museum they have at least 2 for you to see..

If it was me that found them I would get them to the Museum in Liverpool or get Cato Crane Auctioneers in Liverpool to value them.
If you sold them you could donate the money to the guides.
Who ever were to find them in the future would probably sell them any way.
