I know when I was listing on here a few years back I ignored the view count as it was considered unreliable. Just wondering if it has improved.

I don't even look at it to be honest.
However, sales are better again - having dropped off. I think lockdown has given people the time to wander about the web. I sold an item within 24 hours of listing it yesterday.
Madelaine
4 shops for Cats Protection & Prospect Hospice
My Postcard Shop
BK Stamps for Philatelic listings
& Yarnalong for craft patterns
and
Lotzabitz -anything that doesn't belong in one of the other shops.
I don't look at the view counter either. What I do look at is the number of views of my weekly Plug Your Auction thread. I'm not sure how accurate that is either.
But, over the past eighteen months or so, views to the thread have been increasing from about twenty a week, to around forty these days. Over the same period my sales have been increasing, which does seem to indicate some sort of correlation.
My sales last year were definitely the best I've had since joining Ebid and this year has got off to good start as well.

I look at the view count, especially after pinning my items to Pinterest.
There is definitely an increase on those pinned items.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I can't count on the views to decide if I should or shouldn't lower prices.
I assumed the views on the Plug thread is just the regulars in the forums and that wouldn't translate to sales but maybe that is wrong too. I'll just keep listing and then go back and tweak and hope I can find the right combination to make sales.
It might be, but how many regulars are there on the boards? It might also be that there are more security robots about. It could also be that when I sell something on another site and put a note in the parcel I now mention that I add items each week and use the PYA Thread. It could also simply be a complete coincidence.
There's no real way of telling, I just noticed that for years my threads got 15 - 20 views per week (the regulars??) and sales were few and far between. Since the views started going up, so have sales. Last year views were consistently 30 - 40 per week = 26 sales (best year yet on Ebid and far better than on obay).
This year so far the views are about the same (6 more sales here since 1/1/21, 1 over there).

I don't put much stock in the # of views on each listing but noticed some of my newer listing were getting higher numbers so wondered what the reason was-----guess we really don't know!
