I know, but some topics that are quite good, being posted by newbies, aren't read or replied to.
There are, in my opinion, a core of members who have their post read and replied to but for newbies, lurkers et al, it's a little harder.
This is from personal experience though so maybe my posts are poo to other people

It's up to the lurkers to post if they want to, you can't force people. Maybe they're just checking the site out, or this board isn't their cup of tea. (too many mad peeps).

I don't read all the threads, only if they look interesting or I have an opinion on it. If it goes on for too long then I don't bother with it either.

BTW is their any reason why your avatar and userid are related to the pharmaceutical industry?
