Thread: Problem With Downloading & opening Spreadsheet for Listings

Question Problem With Downloading & opening Spreadsheet for Listings

Hi, I have tried downloading the spreadsheet several times in order that I can prepare listings. I made the mistake of using ACROREAD v2 to open the download as I was not asked to use anything else and the file will not open. I subsequently have tried another download, but this then automatically reverts the download to Acroread v2. How can I download a new version and open it with a different application and which application do I need to be able to read the download. I am running Win98.

I was told to download OPEN OFFICE by Toilet and instructed that I was in the wrong Forum, so I'll try again here. When I tried to download OPEN OFFICE it say's download time = 8hrs 40mins to download, is this correct???

    Thanks

    That seems a long time.
Have a look at these links, I can't help much more, but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon.
    Good luck.

    Faster Load Time
OpenOffice.org developers have streamlined the code to improve upon the time taken to initially load the suite. Also, a progress bar has been added to the splash screen.

Note:It is NOT advisable to install over an existing OpenOffice installation. If you want to use the same destination as an existing version of OpenOffice, delete the contents of the existing directory!

Are you on a dial-up connection or broadband? The times normally are for dial-up and until you actually start to download that then gives you an approx time?

    Hi,
I started the download and after 1 minute saw the download time was 8hrs+ so aborted the download. I'm on Dial up. Has anyone else tried the download, if so how long does it take????

    Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to reply and I will try these links. But if anyone from EBid is reading this, if it does take this long to download, I think I'll stick with EBay, it only takes 20 mins to download Turbo Lister!!!!

I assume you do not have a spreadsheet program? You could always ask someone to burn the program to a disc and send the disc to you. For the price of stamp and disc, Lets say £1.00 all in, you would have the program. As you say being on Dial-Up does have it's restrictions.

Hi LAFA. if you've no experience of excel or similar spreadsheets I think you'd have struggled with the bulk upload sheet anyway. If you're not listing too much you could set up a default template on EBID . If your items are similar you can use the 'list similar' button after you post each listing. sometimes I find that quicker than the spreadsheet

Hi, Is this an offer to burn the programme and send it to me? You may as well charge me for the disc as well! Let me know.

    Hi Val,

I was going to give the "on line" loading a try to see if it works o.k. and just to see if there are many people interested in Antique French Beds and Furniture.
    Thanks for your message.

If you do a search on ebid for openoffice you will find a few.
