Thread: Another Virus!!!

  1. #1

    Talking Another Virus!!!

    Hi all

Further to my last virus alert that everyone knew about anyway thought I'd post this one as well.

"" PIN NUMBER REVERSAL (GOOD TO KNOW)

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM
machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.

For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321. The ATM
recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in
    the machine.

The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the
robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.

This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is
seldom used because people don't know it exists.

Please pass this along to everyone possible.""

GUESS WHAT - THIS IS A BIT MORE NONSENSE

CAUSE THEN THEY SENT THIS BIT IN A SECOND EMAIL:-

""Further to last, this has just been sent to me from South Africa:

"We have had this email circulating here and it has been confirmed by
Standard Bank and FNB that it is a scam and under NO CIRCUMSTANCES must you
do this as the badies just reverse it and "borrow" all your money.""

I like the last bit about the 'baddies just reverse it and "borrow" all your money'

Go on - you can all tell me this is an old one as well thats been doing the rounds since the year dot.

Whilst being false in current reality, this dodgy email actually has a grain of truth to it. It is well worth reading about via: http://www.snopes.com/business/bank/pinalert.asp

There's a good list of "Computer Virus Warning!" emails at: http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/virus.asp

Many of them relate to genuine viruses.
