I've noticed people have started opening "penny auctions", does this mean that eBid allow fee avoidance?
These were part of the reason I left eBid, couldn't/wouldn't compete with the scammers.

I agree with you,
put the real p&p! (not overinflated) and put a genuine price on your auction. Its free to sell anyway but 2% for a gallery is a really fair price! Just think what these people would be paying on feebay! In order for this site to evolve and have enough money to compete with the big boys, everyone should do this. £2 in £100 is not alot to pay to make sure ebid can properly advertise itself and in turn bring more customers which will increase their revenue.
Fee avoidance shouldnt be allowed, especially in such critical times for ebid - stamp it out!

Fee avoidance here is nonsence.. nobody needs to, they're so low to begin with. On the other side I can understand it, in a way, if I listed there I'd be bankrupting myself and I'm not even a pro-seller. If those particular Nike Trainer Types come here.. argh!
That said, I haven't sold anything since royal mail changed their prices last year (ah, I haven't sold for years), so I'm just guessing atm.
On the other side I used to start all my auctions 99p, but only because the insertion fee was idiotic.

After a long, long time, I'm baaaaaack!! My stuff: Look at it, it's fantastic.
when looking at listing with 1p starting price and like £15.00 p&p you can report that item to ebid for them to take a look
just click on the item, on the top left just under the picture you will see a report this item page
Sues Cross Stitch Kits
The fees here are so small I don't even bother to ask for my fees back when I get a NPB...
The few pence I see as a bit more revenue to help Ebid.
And they have been so generous to me with free upgrades etc, now I get free shops,
what more do people want...
well maybe a few more sales.... but I reckon they will come when the new website design is launched
I don't understand why a 1p start auction would necessarily be 'fee avoidance'? especially when many of us don't pay listing or FVF fees anyway (only gallery).
Sellers might be trying to stimulate bidding by having low starts. For example the only 1p start auction I've seem recently was for the charity YDC auctions, no question of fee avoidance, just a good marketing technique to get the bidding started.
As for inflated postage. In my view EBID should not be involved in setting postage rates. The best way to discourage inflated postage is to choose not to buy from sellers who do it.

well who is selling the 1p auctions ?, if you think it's fee avoidance report them.
I think the OP's original point was just about those who list 1p with £15 postage.. if people really don't mind selling things for a penney, more power to them, especially if its the charity things.. I hope they're using free listings.
It's just irritating to see fee avoidance, and for the most part I'm too busy listing my own things to police other peoples. I suppose the question is, can ebid be ahead of the other sites and find a way of stopping it before it happens? They don't have time to read every new listed item and neither do most of the rest of us.
Anyway, no answers here, just questions and whinging, as usual
