Default G & M, Please could you clarify the selling of adult dvds?

As the title suggests please can you clarify the selling of adult dvds?

I know it was spoken about in this thread on 30/11/06

We will be closing these categories down due to some "to the point" warnings from the Police and other authorities.

Our apologies to our sellers in these categories. We have been told there are some illegal (R18) movies that can only legally be sold in licensed shops and eBid is being held responsible for their sale. Our choice is to comply or spend some time at her Majesty's pleasure which myself and Mark haven't got time to do at the moment with our upgrades and brand new design coming to fruition.

    Our apologies once again.

    Best Wishes
    Gazza
Yet one seller is allowed to continue selling these and nothing is done about them, have the rules changed for this or is one seller get special treatment?

I know this is the wrong way to go about it but you haven't replied to my email which was sent to you on Friday 26th January and yes I do have a ticket ID which I obviously do not want to post on here.

And before a certain person states 'it's their site they can do what they want' I agree but it should be one rule for everyone.

So please can you clarify the situation.

    Thanks

i nearly listed a banned film without even thinking about it
but before listing i had second thoughts and asked even though the film was a re-release and had a 18 cert it was still on the banned list .i just wish this banned list was available for us to see as its a pain if you have to ask every time you want to list a film and you just don't know if its banned or allowed?

I would have thought that if it has an 18 cert it should be okay. Maybe you should e-mail support@ebid.tv for clarification on it.

If it has the 18 cert it will have been toned down or become acceptable now. Remember when it was released (in 1939) Gone with the wind was quite shocking; for the line "Frankly my dear I don't give a damn". Damn was a daring word to use at that time.

I think the major problem here is with titles rated R18, which is usually used for hardcore porn. The BBFC (and the law) is quite clear on these things - they may ONLY be sold or rented through licensed sex shop retail outlets. There are no exceptions to this that I am aware of.

There shouldn't be any bother with normal 18-rated stuff, provided of course you make sure you are not selling to under-18s.

Mazhells: if a previously-banned title has been re-released and given a BBFC rating, you can be reasonably sure there is no legal ban in place - it wouldn't have passed the rating/censorship process otherwise.

I don't know where they come from.
    It scares me sometimes.

I think eBid are banning any dvd that looks 'sexy' or erotic even if they have the '18' symbol clearly in place on the front cover. The same rules apply on the other side as well, I have had many dvds removed from the side as they were erotic, it didn't matter that I bought it from Woolworths in the first place!

As the dvd/video section has been removed from the adult section it is clear eBid do not want these on the site any more, legal or not, my only worry is and I have seen it, is that more of these dvds are ending up on the normal dvd section which is more easily accessible to children and they will appear on the front page from time to time.

Although I do not agree with the removal of the adult dvd section, as anything adult orientated was out the way and only available to those who were looking for it, we have to respect eBids decision.

hi, thanks for the info the film in question i was going to list wasn't a adult film as such it was one that deals with death and the causes and what happens after the fact? i hope you can think what film i mean without me having to give the title out over the air it is now on a 18 cert? so if you can buy it out the shop explain what the difference is? I'm none the wiser.
