What those rod type things are that hold the boot of a car open please?

I guess they are like a piston, but they must have a proper name that I can search under.

If it's any use, it's for a Renault Megane Scenic 1999.

Boot Struts aka Boot Lifters . etc etc lots of names for them

Thanks for that, am thinking of buying a car but what an idea of how much I'll need to spend on it. Bit hard when you don't know what you're looking for lol
