Default can I make my listing more pleasing to look at

Can I start by saying I am happy with ebid the sales are slow but steady and the forum is the best I have come across, however I notice that some of you have very pretty decorative listings land mine are bog standard. Can someone like me achieve the same effect with having no PC skills to mention. I have tried but I just get the message that I cannot cut and paste.and this is about all I can do. If anyone has some simple methods I would appreciate any hints and tips or even idiot bullet points please?

    Hi Carole

I guess you were looking for something helpful ...... well hopefully this is it. I think your listings are really good. Colourful, accurate and clear on what people are buying. That's what people want, I reckon. Blimey, you think yours are plain, you ought to see ours!

There are quite a few sellers here who make and sell listing templates - which is what I think you are after. I can't recommend one over another but search on 'Template' and you should find a few. Most are willing to 'hand hold' through the process of getting things up and running. Two that spring to mind are Gothicina and byKimbo.

I can manage the coding but lack the artistic skills.

Personally, I think your listings are great as they are, clear and succinct.

When I'm looking for something to buy, I want to find a clear picture and the information easily without going through a lot of clutter. Yours are great.

One thing you're doing that I haven't figured out yet, is how to get the colored background that you have in your descriptions. When I select a background color on the eBid "new listing" panel, it only puts the color in behind the actual text, leaving a lot of white space in the background, which looks terrible. How do you do that?

    Create a table like this:

    <table border="0" width="100%" bgcolor="#FFFFCC"><tr><td>

You place all of your listing information in here.

    </td></tr></table>

#FFFFCC is the hex equivalent of light pastel yellow.

OP. I think your auctions look fine. But if you really want to use listing templates. I have a link here for you and it's free.
    http://www.desacs.com/
They are very good but I find the writing a little small, but that is just my opinion. I use it my self because I don't have time to create my own.
The have full listing tmplates and mini templates which you may find useful. They also give you step by step instructions on how to use them.

I hope this will be of some help to you.

All you need is a clear photo and an accurate description.

I think the listings are clear and easy to read. I like the fact that the product is well photographed and isn't being overwhelmed by too much fuss in the background.

Refreshing the look occasionally is good and a simple change to pics would do it; you could change the background against which the product is photographed or (for example) have the bears posed differently.

Whatever you decide, hope your listings do well.

I told you that the forums are good, you have all made me feel much better about my listings. The coloured backgrounds I was able to do when I first joined ebid but not any more, something must have changed. Thanks to all.
