Thread: Gazza Mark can you serve up linked thumbnails to websites

  1. #1

Default Gazza Mark can you serve up linked thumbnails to websites

I am not technical and don't know if this is possible and if it is what sort of costs it would take to implement.

Is it possible for ebid to serve up linked thumbnails on the websites of those who wish to have them there - maybe it exists already?.

For example, there are lots of instances where this happens for Amazon and ebay. A webpage might have as its content an article on buses - a section of the webpage will have a small section which is served with links to bus-related ebay and/or Amazon listings.

Dooyoo is a website which carries links to ebay and Amazon listings. People review items and the particular page is served with links to the items being reviewed on ebay and Amazon.

I don't know how the ins and outs of this work, I'd imagine in the last example Amazon and ebay are paying Dooyoo everytime a sale is made that has come from clicking a link on Dooyoo (who in turn pay their reviewers for providing the content which attracts the Amazon/ebay link).

Is it possible that ebid can link up with someone as big as Dooyoo and serve up links to their webpages.

On a smaller scale, would it be possible for ebid to give me a piece of code that I could put on my (as yet non-existent) website, which would show thumbnailed links to ebid listings - just like Google Adsense?

I would gladly carry, on a website, what would essentially be ads for ebid.

This would be of great benefit for those of us who have, or intend to have a website, who wish to promote ebid.

There might be others who would carry these ads on their website and expect to be paid. I would be willing to pay an extra 0.5 percent FVFs which could be passed on to those carrying ads/links when a clickthrough AND sale was made.

TOZCentral did some code to do something like that - as used on my site at: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/astral....t/ebid_rss.htm

They must have got fed up with it and moved on to something else as it seems to have vanished from their site - though it is still functioning on mine.

Is that what is known as an RSS feed?

This is a step in the right direction. What I am, hoping ebid can implement is something like this, which will serve up ebid listings relevant to the content of the pages.

I am hoping that ebid can do something similar, but not serve up any old ad. Instead it will serve up links to out listings.

I think it uses the RSS feed and parses it to make it suitable for displaying on a web page. I admit it was a bit beyond my understanding though.

I could also be displayed as a scrolling selection of items. As the page the details were on seems to have been removed (or moved to an address I don't know) then I don't have the details.

If Gothicina is around maybe she can give Toz a poke and ask him what the status of the routine is.

Have you seen what I have in one of my blogs you could try something like that, it works better in Firefox than IE but you can change the size colour and the websites.

    http://asitisso.blogspot.com/

There is also an ebid search engine there, both of which come from igoogle

    http://www.google.com/ig

Or search it out on google

    JUST ADDING

The feed address' come from what I think is the google feed on internet explorer
