Changing gas and Electric Companies

If your like me I change companies almost every 3-4 months (Your allowed to every month if you like). Never had any problems what ever until today. Changed from NPower to Atlantic on 17th JAN 2010 took a reading of each and phoned them through (As always) thinking no more of it. Got a bill from Npower for £880 (£460 for the gas and £419 for electric) The gas bill is about right but the Electric well over! So I made enquiries. The reading they took down for the Electric was 35468.so I went and read my meter and it 35064...(Silly me did not make a note of the readings as I have never had to before) BUT I explained that can't be correct because the reading they have is HIGHER then the present reading......watch this space

Hi Red , what benefit , if any , do you get from doing this ? although this seems like a high price to pay for your gas & elec;......papa.

Benefit from swopping around is that companies change there rates all the time. so if your paying £700 a year another company might be saying we will do that at £600 a year.

Lucky you to be able to shop around. We have no choice in utility companies, only one game in town!!

Spoke to both companies and I have to take a new reading 1 month on and they say they will work backwards.
