- the MoneyBookers API is not too difficult to use (and correctly picks up things like postal insurance, gift wrapping etc as order options - unlike PayPal's), but I do know it takes a bit more effort from the site to get authorisation to use the API. However, that's only related to providing documentary proof of personal or business identity, therefore shouldn't be any problem for eBid.

I might be wrong, but would I be right in saying ebay now allow Moneybookers?
If that is the case, I fear ebay's position and influence in the marketplace would mean ebid won't ever see that authortisation.

In the UK, MoneyBookers always has been, and still is an authorised payment method on eBay, therefore MoneyBookers will not be influenced by them regarding an application from eBid.
The system I think you're referring to relates to what appears to be a special case for eBay.com, where MoneyBookers had to create a subsidiary in the US to get onto the US eBay site, and also had to jack their fees in line with PayPal's for it to finalise. The fee differential between MoneyBookers Inc. and MoneyBookers Ltd (UK) is still there, and the US deal with eBay did not affect the UK fees.
