Thread: Advertising with ShopWiki Stores

  1. #1

Thumbs down Advertising with ShopWiki Stores

Has anyone had any luck uploading their store/website to ShopWiki Stores?

I have just tried to upload my eBid store on ShopWiki but I keep getting the following message: "Could not add site: Our system could not fetch the page: http://just-leggings.ebid.net/ Site not added". I then tried to add my own website the result of which was stated that the website had already been added? I did a search for my own website but there were zero results. I did a search for eBid with zero results. I then did a search for an item that I sell and came up with lots of entries from e**y, amazon, M&S, Debenhams etc etc. ShopWiki advertises itself as a free service to help find stores.

If anyone would like to try this is the site submission form link:
    http://www.shopwiki.co.uk/addSite.jsp

I hope you have better luck.

It just told me that my website was already added and whilst i have never added it, i have seen results on wiki before. So I tried to add my new website and it couldn't fetch that site - will try with my ebid stores when they are all built.

I just tried all 5 of my stores and got the same rejection message for all of them.

It has accepted my own website but rejected my shops in eBid and 2 other auction sites
My posts only state my own opinions, unless I've stolen them from someone else

Thanks for that link.Listed my web site.

It doesn't appear to accept anything after the forward slash on the URL.

I haven't looked, but I imagine it's rejecting all sub-domains. The very first person to put anything.ebid.net would have been okay, but after that it will just be registering that ebid.net already exists.

A second problem is that most eBid pages are dynamically generated. So while something like a pointer to your store page (e.g. http://astral.ebid.net/) would seem that it would work it will not, because there is nothing there until somebody actually displays the page and so nothing for the Wiki to crawl.

Thanks everyone and Mel re the explanation. I wonder why I get a message to say that my own website is already listed, when I have never listed it, I only found the link last night.

Good luck to everyone who has managed to add their link.

    I love "everyone and Mel".

What's the address of your site? If it's a commercial site, give it broken up without the dots so it's not a link.
