Default How to treat customers badly

Just got my car insurance renewal through.

    Last year I paid £514

I've had no claims, no points, nothing. The only thing that has changed is my no claims has gone up from 1 year to 2 years.

My quote which has been double checked on the phone is.....

    £1459.63

You are right, this is no way to treat a good customer, but that seems to be the way it works these days.

My health insurance went from a little over $5000 to $9800 per year for a $5000 deductable for myself only. I can not afford that so am playing a dangerous game of hoping I won't need anything expensive before I reach Medicare age (government care). I had not had any claims for 6-7 years that were over the deductable.

The companies say their expenses are going up but how much do they think the customers can stand?

I had the same problem, so i went to the price comparision site, when the co-op came up at a fraction of the price quoted, i had to phone them up to confirm that everything was right

I could and never will understand why some insurances are allowed to charge as much as they do. is'nt it enough that each year the insurances seem to go up and up without some making it impossible.

Sadly customer loyalty means nothing nowadays. It is new business that counts. Not being in business I don't know why that is; maybe some could enlighten me?

As the customer ages they see greater risk and try to get rid of them and go with the younger ones who will (they hope) pay for a few years before they have to pay out. At least that is what I think!

The only thing I can think of is they've done their research and concluded 'apathy rules OK'?

For example: I know I'm well overdue my annual mock outrage call to Virgin Media threatening to defect to Sky and thereby saving myself £20 off my monthly bill but I just can't be bothered.

Maybe it's the thought of spending 50 minutes holding on an 0845 number with the constant reassurance "..your call is important, please continue to hold.." while some cheesy Europop soundtrack plays in the background only to then find the call answered by a polite, but clueless, bod in an Indian call centre.

Hmmm...perhaps these companies know what they're doing after all?
