Tia , as far as I am aware , buy it now means just that...you buy it , it is yours , end of auction or what ever....the item is sold....as said , that is MY UNDERSTANDING.....papa.

I confess everything I've bought here has been fixed price, so I can't speak from experience. Doesn't sound right, though.
It ends the buyers buy(and buyer has won their qty & pays) .. if more quantity is /was in that offering and has Days left to run, the auction is still active.

I think I understand now. The original question didn't mention quantities, so I assumed one item. That would end the auction if the buyer selected "Buy It Now".

And if a quantity of more than one is offered, the quantity available is changed and the auction continues, but the buyer doesn't have to wait.

Maybe this thread is as good a reason as any to get rid of 'Run til Sold' listings:

They'd better keep it or they're going to lose a lot of active sellers.

Ever hear the phrase "throwing out the baby with the bathwater?"

How about "painting everyone with the same brush?"

I feel a bit hurt when someone says the RUS looks like "desperation" or "junk." We are not desperate and the things we have set up to RUS are not junk. We've sold quite a few of them in the past couple of months. People with only a few hundred auctions don't need to use it, but I really don't understand why they are so hostile towards those of us who do.

RUS would be good with a Best Offer button, but eBid refuse to even think about it.

Judging by all the advice on these forums, items won't sell using Run Until Sold.

There are many Dump and Run sellers, who are all using Run Until Sold and spoiling the credibility of the site.

If that is the case, why not just get rid of it as an option.

If a deadline was set for removing the option, after that time all existing Run Until Sold auctions could be changed to 90 days duration with 0 Auto Reposts.

That way, 90 days after the deadline, there would be no more Dump and Run sellers and there could never be any more.
    I agree a 90 limit

Maybe a best offer button is a good idea.I think the run till sold option is abused by absent sellers and with hindsight hitting the good sellers as well as the absent ones would be unfair.
I still think ebid need to give it some thought but I suppose if there were more of the 10 day listings the run till sold 'items wouldn't be seen as much anyway.
