Pat, its not human rights b***...its about the legal processes of the law in this country.
The families of his victims must be relieved by the outcome of the Judges ruling today.
When Sutcliffe was sentenced he was given a min of 30 yrs, which expires next year, A maximum sentence was never stated, so he made an application for when he could come up for parole.
The Judges ruling today is that he will never be eligible...and will serve a whole life sentence.
he was never given a whole life sentence before, so could in law ask for parole.
Good news for the families and surviving victims who have always dreaded the day he might be released.

Post #4 already gave the correct reference to the law and relevant process. Human Rights legislation protects all people including Sutcliffe. However, human rights law does not provide for criminal convictions or prison sentneces resulting from due legal process to be ignored or overturned. There is no basis in human rights law for Sutcliffe to be released.
