Default A Link to Ask Seller a Question on the About me Page

It would be really useful to have a 'contact seller' link on the about me page, so that buyers do not have to ask a question through a seller's listings. as far as I know the only way to contact a seller is through the link that is provided on the seller's items for sale pages.

    Thanks!!

I disagree. If an email address was readily available then that would open up the possibility of sales being arranged off site. The current system enables eBid to monitor traffic between users (should they so wish) to deter that kind of thing.

So I feel that all correspondence prior to a sale should go through the eBid system. I do think that it should be up to the seller if that correspondence appears on the listing for others to view or not.

it wouldnt have to be an email addy, it could be along the lines of the PM on the forum,

Me, too. Mel, why would it have to be an email address. Why can't there be a way for a someone to contact a seller via a "Contact Seller" link through eBid?

I saw no mention of emails from the OP. I understood the question as having a link to contact seller (ask seller a question) from their Me Page.

It wouldn't have to be - that was the interpretation I, maybe mistakenly, placed on 'Contact Seller'.

As long as the traffic went through the eBid system and was accountable then objection withdrawn.

The fact still remains that that facility already exists on all listings. The only issue is that the communication is open for all to see regardless as to whether it is relevant to other users regarding the item.

Giving the seller the option as to whether a communication shows on the listing or not would give what you are asking for (a private correspondence) and also fix what I see as a flaw in the current system.

Just to be painfully pedantic...You can't both second something.

Having the ASQ on the auction page means the question is linked to the item so the seller will know what item the questioner is talking about. Having the ASQ on the About Page could lead to questions like "Has the book got a mark on its cover" leaving big sellers wondering which one of their 1,000 items they are talking about.
My posts only state my own opinions, unless I've stolen them from someone else

But I suppose someone could ask a general question about the seller's items or about the seller etc.
