    Default shipment of vinyl

    hey all

I have a large amount of 12" vinyl records to list over the next week or so, can anyone suggest a good source of appropriate packaging and what sort of postage fees I would be looking at?

    many thanks

The price of commercial boxes that are the right size for LP records is VERY high here. After asking around, I found two other options.

    1) If you can find a pizza parlor that will resell some of their unused boxes at a reasonable price, they're close to the right size. You need the kind that do not have holes in the middle, of course, and you have to reverse them so the printing is on the inside.

    2) Make your own wrappers from used cardboard boxes. That's what I do. The first one was really difficult, but I then had it to use as a template. Now I can cut one out in about five minutes. I put squares of bubble wrap on each side, fold up the cardboard and tape it securely. I just got feedback that one I shipped to Germany last week arrived safely.

I bought some corrugated cardboard in a huge roll, about 80cm width.
I use to sandwich delicate items, very useful and quick

I just collected boxes from the supermarket produce department they have nice thick bottoms, cut out the bottoms to size and ,then packed lp in between two pieces with bubble wrap as well, never had a problem nice and cheap as well FREE

As for postage when you have packed an lp up weigh it and go the royal mail and work it out from there.

i've found someone on here that does boxes in packs of 50, i think that might be a bit large (i only have 44 records to sell), do you reckon it might be worth me asking if they will do a lot of say 10 or 20?

No harm in asking, even asking for 44.
