Think ebid'll need official permission from Red Noise Day/Comic Relief (the parent organisation) to use their logo (and claim a connection) because of copyright and that, otherwise it could look like ebid is exploiting a charity to promote themselves.

Individual auctions saying the money goes to charity/Comic Relief might be ok but could look scammy.

Your fundraising materials must not suggest that you represent the charity, only that you are fundraising in support of us.

If you are a business and you are fundraising by selling goods or services, or by running an event or promotion, the law requires you to have a Fundraising Agreement with us. You may also need a Fundraising Agreement if you are a member of the public and you are deducting any amounts (e.g. costs or expenses) from your fundraising. You can enquire about getting a Fundraising Agreement by emailing fundraising@rednoseday.com or by writing to us at ‘Comic Relief, The Fundraising Team, 1st Floor, 89 Albert Embankment, London, SE1 7TP’.

Good points, Jend................Not sure if each person/business participating would need an agreement..........or just Ebid.

Though it does bring it rather close to the YDC

Will whoever is organizing this look into this and see what needs to be done? Or will Ebid do that???

I think the decision was that all that is too complicated for this occasion and we can maybe think about it for next time in 2013. I think the feeling was that those who want to do something this year will just do a batch of auctions for charity naming Comic Relief as we do for the YDC and have done for BCC in the past. I am not sure what jend means about that looking "scammy"?

If eBid management would like to be involved in 2013 there will be plenty of time to go through the correct formalities - we have left it too late this time it seems.
