    Default eBid Facebook ads

For those of you not on Facebook, eBid's just posted this on its wall: "We've started facebook ads, a few million per day. Some linking to our FB page and some going out to the main site, let us know if you see any." Thought you'd like to know.

I don't do FB but this has to be good news. Is it a sign of the increased traffic to eBid? That the 'guys' can increase their advertising budget without increasing our fees!

Facebook Ads pop up at random based on the criteria the boys will have set.

Its great they are doing this, but why don't they announce these things on our forums ?

I have run some Facebook ads for my website and got some hits (but they are very expensive per click - for me anyway)

When I joined in September of 2010 you were the first to answer one of my questions and I would like to Thank you for that. I noticed when I joined your feedback rating here was the same as it is today. Why is that?

    @Adrumi
I know where you are coming from, its always the same beat.

The reason is that I have not sold much on ebid lately.
Just about all of my sales have been from forum posters (for which I am very grateful)
Just about everyone has left me feedback.
I have a recent sale waiting on feedback.

I only have one product in several colours.
My products don't go to Google Product Search as I am in New Zealand.
My product is new and not very well known, so I don't know if people really want them.
My product is new and not well known, so nobody will be searching for one anyway.
I think its a great idea (but then I am biased) and that everyone with a computer should buy one.
It may be that they don't think they will need one.
It may be that they thing they are a silly idea
It may be that they think they will not work
It may be that they have not the spare cash this week
It may be that they think they are too dear
It may be that they think New Zealand is too far away to buy from.

But then all the feedback I get is very positive and everyone is pleased that they have bought them.

Until I can afford to run a million dollar advertising campaign I will never know if they are going to be good sellers.

In the meantime I keep plugging away on ebid as I get views, and as long as I get views I am happy.

I also know that ebid is much smaller than ebay, so until it gets to say half of its size sales will always be much smaller.

    What say you ?

What say I? Well I can guarantee had I stocked 100 of those and listed them elsewhere a month ago at least 23 would have sold and positive feedback would have been left. Sorry I just don't see the joy of free listing and low fees and low sales. Just doesn't make sense.

    Julie/Digby,
One of the points exactly is as you stated. "Until I can afford to run a million dollar advertising campaign I will never know if they are going to be good sellers."

That is why millions of people pay fees to benefit from million dollar ad campaigns. We don't have that kind of money ourselves but we can jump on a bandwagon which does.
The goal is making sure your manufacturer can't keep up with the sales.
