Thread: Need help with listing - what kind of ship is this please?

  1. #1

Question Need help with listing - what kind of ship is this please?

    http://uk.ebid.net/for-sale/fine-art...p-40917413.htm

    Hey folks...

I need a more detailed description for this listing, can anyone tell me what kind of ship is shown in this painting I have for sale? It's no battleship, I know that much. Is it a fishing vessel maybe? It says 'HAMPTON GY.11' on the... umm... bow?

The bow is the pointy end and GY is Grimsby's registration.
So it's probably a Grimsby trawler.

There is a possibility that the painter used artistic licence & made the name & number up.

BTW, does the price seem about right? I have no idea how to value this kind of thing. I found it in the attic of my new flat. Along with some more umm... questionable artistic works! (By the same artist)
