Item view numbers going backwards (again)

Hi Gaza,

I'd just like to report that some of my item view numbers have gone backwards by one or two today.
This happened a few weeks ago as well.

I have always trusted the ebid views figures ,as I keep a detailed record of them as I only have 26 listings.
But others have told me they don't always trust the figures.

Any Idea what causes it ?
Are the view figures stored ? or calculated on the fly ?

While we are on this subject I think the number of views to My Profile is way too high.
I get about 10 views a day to my profile and only one or 2 to my About Me page (according to an independent counter)

The independent counter probably filters out bots.

Well I guess I will have to stop "not looking at your items". Then your numbers should stop going backwards! LOL!!

Yes Julie, I can confirm that.
I've only noticed one instance though, where a count of 8 dropped back to 6 (a day or two ago).

I've also noticed that the item views will often count forwards (usually by 2), if you view your product via another country.

ie:
I add a new listing.
I 'view' it from where I am (in Australia)
I go back a page and 'refresh' to see a count that's now 1 (all OK so far)

then:
I select another country, say UK.
I go in and view my same item.
I go back a page and 'refresh' to see a count that's now 3 (sometimes 2).

This can be repeated by going into your same listing (on each different country you're listing that item on), and each time the count will advance by either 1 or 2.

If you go into the same country twice though, the count won't respond to the second viewing.

That's what's been happening to me anyway.

You guys always have interest in the ‘’numbers’’…well I must post on sale some of calculators in my store…....and by the way for my views I am not bothered for that anymore and no way to know anymore because I have more of 20,000 minimum so if something go up or down…njaahhh…no big deal…....
