    Default Completed listings

What about in-corporating a completed listings option.

It would give a good indication of what products are selling on Ebid. It may motivate new members to join.

Not quite it isn't. You have to check the 'search closed' box in advanced search AND enter a search phrase. There's no way to show closed listings for a category, only for a specific search phrase.

Look on the front page under "popular" to see whats selling in the way of bids or has sold 1 of a quantity via buy now, I've just looked and there is 18,588 auctions

Yes, it tells you what is selling but not what has sold.

Yes, there are many ways, as Sarah has said. But a more direct route such as you are suggesting would be welcome.

eBid has many, many good points. But it does make some functions for more difficult than needs be.

I get the feeling Ebid are dragging their heels on this because it may highlight a lack of sales and traffic on this site.

I don't think it's a matter of "dragging their heels", they simply choose not implement - or at the very least not to prioritise - changes which would, on balance, do more harm than good. Far better to spend precious time putting in real improvements, rather than providing weapons for the moaners and knockers to use to say "there, told you so". Some of us know, and accept, that this site doesn't have as many sales per day as ebay if you don't put the work in, but for those who expect ebay levels of business for a fraction of the cost and no effort, this would be a stick to beat them with. Hardly surprising if it's not at the top of their (incredibly long) to do list!

So you think that adding a completed listings option would have a negative effect?

I get your point, but I was thinking that it would encourage more members. If they can see a certain product seling well on here they may be encouraged to join, and the potential buyer of this product in demand will come here to buy that product. Also, if a product has not sold, there is a chance that it is still avaliable to buy. I see it as a form of advertising - may be I'm wrong.

Yes sales could be brisker, and I would love a quick completed listings feature. However, eBid ranks #1 in the area of support (particularly to sellers), and also strong forum support for buyers & sellers. One day blended venues strengths and attributes may merge into a perfect venue. Don't wait for that to happen, just keep doing all you can do to improve your sales.
