I use the company's main program Vipre (not cheap, but good) all of the time.
The downloaded program runs a deep scan from within dos and can take several hours to run, best do it overnight.
I always use it on customers computers if they are having problems.
Best program I've used so far. Well worth the money.

I put some free and paid resources together at Bug Genius (dot) com

Not a fancy site (hosted free by wix) but it has multiple tool links. The best program I have ever used is CCleaner.

For general cleaning you can't beat CCleaner, but for nasties I use both Malaware Bytes and Superantispyware which seem to do the trick virtually every time.

What I'd like to know is...
Why don't the main anti-virus programs stop trojans from getting on your machine in the first place ?

Surely a trojan is just another sort of Virus!

Eg my Avira program often warns me a virus has been detected.
Why doesn't it detect trojans ?

I never understand how in god sake anybody can pick up that many viruses and Trojans…....For my personal opinion is just like for ‘’fake’’ items and the seller’s exactly know what buyers looking this days and exactly and only ‘’fake’’ that item and put on sale….so people pick up ‘’hot’’ cheap’’ and much less price from retail price and buummm…so same stuff happening for viruses and Trojans many scammers put this stuff on every page where people look to like….AMEN……...

This worked a treat but for those of you who are going to try it, when you are asked what computer you are going to use it on, make sure you choose 'own' as any other option it will ask you to pay for it!

With that many infections there are bound to be lots of damaged or over-written system files. It would be far better just to format the drive and start from scratch.
This was one thing I was worried about as my friend had no back up discs and lost the user manual, also one of the virusis wrote to any portable media such as SD card, cd/dvds and with the amount of family photos on the laptop they all would have been lost.

I've found the Malwarebytes program to be very good
I also use this myself and find it very good.

    Once again thanks everyone.
