We are unable to stop spam going into spam folders but it is when it is humanly marked as spam by the conscious clicking of a button that really hurts us. We receive copies of any humanly "marked as spam" emails from hotmail/msn/live at the moment and seeing the sorts of emails that users are marking as spam is very frustrating.
it goes a little something like this....
us : "Congratulations ... You've just sold something on eBid"...
seller : I'll mark that as spam i think, how dare they notify me of that!!!

I wouldn't take it personally, if I were you. Most probably don't actually read it. "Manually" marking as spam may include email clients marking, people not reading the mail (or misreading the sender details) or - a personal favourite of mine *blush* - missing the row intended and accidentally marking the email above or below as spam. I've never done it with eBid (so far) but know I've marked at least one legitimate email from elsewhere as being spam.
I had the problem once when I accidentally marked a notification on an auction I was watching as SPAM and although I undid it immediately I still got suspended and didn't know why until I contacted support. Alas! The Spam button is just a little to close on my Windows Live where I have all my email accounts come to. Since then I've been careful to watch really close when marking anything as SPAM.
Must admit though I'm getting a humongous amount of email written in Chinese. I thought the German was bad but I have absolutely no idea of what the Chinese folks are trying to tell me.
