I offer both options, transaction fees are the same. Google automatically transfer your funds to your bank account within ca. 3 days - with Paypal you have to do it manually and it takes a few business days for it to clear to your bank.
Google is under the scrutiny of watchdogs all the time and they cannot and will not dip into your funds for any reason whatsoever.
Paypal are an entity unto themselves and say and do whatever they please, including dipping into your funds, without your permission, for whatever reason they deem fit.
Hi, I use paypal and have not had any problems (touch wood of course!!).
I also accept payment by UK bank cheques, postal orders and rarely now cash- but always at buyers risk.Foreign cheques take too long to clear and cost upto £5 to be processed so steer clear of those if you can
Virtually all my buyers seem to use paypal and the payments seem to come through instantly. I have not used google so can't comment on them, other than my previous thread on searches and good keywords.
Hope this helps, good luck with your sales and buying, and enjoy ebid!
Cheers, Alan

I use both Google and PayPal. I have never had a payment made through Google so I cannot really comment on that. PayPal on the other hand is the one that 99% of my sales (mostly elsewhere) are paid with. I have had a PayPal account for about 11 years and never had a problem. If you only want to use one of them I would suggest PayPal. You can of course accept Postal Orders. I find them as good as cash and treat them as such.
Hope my two pennorth worth helps.
I rather think the question should be directed at buyers as opposed to sellers.
I have over 100,000 transactions thru paypal without a hitch.
Thanks for all your input!
Tried to set up Google Checkout (seller account ) and they dont accept it in Spain .
Thought to get some extraq clients tru it but doesent go .............
So I will keep it with Paypall .
I've used PayPal for over 10 years and Google Checkout for a little over 1 year. As mentioned earlier, fees are the same, but with GC you get your money automatically deposited into your account withing a day or two, not so with PayPal. PayPal has the larger user base by far by virtue of the fact that it has been around for over a decade and is the only online payment system allowed by eBay.
Unlike the experiences mentioned above I have had numerous problems with PayPal. I have been notified that my identity may have been compromised more than once due to hackers (although this has gotten better since eBay bought them). My account has been frozen for a myriad of reason, once for a "routine identity check" even though I am a verified account holder. That one took six months to clear up. Fortunately I had a second account through which I was able to conduct my business. I have yet to have them take money from by bank account, but then I have a good rapport with my bank and they have been instructed not to allow withdrawals without my express permission.
Despite the aforementioned issues I still accept PayPal because of the used base. In the final analysis Juliebabe's suggestion is best, offer as many methods as you can.
Good Luck,
I only use Paypal on eBid because I just know that any money I get from sales will be spent on the charity auctions and I like to keep money in my Paypal account just for that.
Otherwise I use Google Checkout. I like having the funds paid daily into my bank account as I can get hold of funding for postage more easily that way.
I also accept payment in chocolate
