I am already registered with them but still get calls

I just looked up how to complain and they wanted to know the company name, their address and phone number.

Mine are always from an Indian bloke called Kevin

Overseas aren't covered, alas. But I'm TPS *and* ex-directory, and I get none.

Well that's not very helpful when I only get uninvited calls from overseas call centres.

On the other hand it SHOULD mean that the reason I only get those calls is the ones from UK numbers have stopped.

I find that speaking in a quiet voice for around a minute before blowing a loud whistle down the phone tends to get the message across to them. Simply requesting that they stop calling does not work.

Many UK firms use overseas call centres because:

    1. It's cheaper.
    2. It gets around TPS and any other regulations about cold calling.

Not really a lot you can do about them. Most use automatic diallers that call numerous numbers at once. More than the operators can handle at a time - which is why there is often nobody on the line if you do answer.

Being ex-directory is not 100% certain to rid you of them as they dail numbers in batches and not just known valid numbers.

Most withhold their number, so you could bar all calls that do. That has a downside though, as some calls you may want to accept (as I found out when my mother was in hospital and the hospital switchboard withheld their number when calling).

Getting anything done about nuisance calls is an exercise in futility - even if they are of the worst type; the service provider will claim it is a police issue, and the police will claim it is a service provider issue - you just get batted back and forth until you give up.
