Seller refuses to sell after BuyNow sale

I just bought 2 vehicle batteries from Autopoint (Justcarbatteries) and paid immediately with Paypal.
Within minutes I had an email from them telling me that the "price was wrong" and that they had refunded my money.

Do I have any comeback? They are a business and have advertised a product at a price - I entered into a contract with them for that product at that price, now they retract. Any thoughts would be welcomed.

Every ad I have ever read states price will not be honored if price is wrong. This is in America though, maybe the U.K. is different?

Sorry you had this experience. If it were me, I'd contact eBid support with the relevant info.: support@ebid.net to get their take on this. Not that the seller's bad behavior (IMHO) has anything to do with eBid, but it would give them a heads up as regards the seller.

I have seen it a few times on various sites , it seems you can not force a seller to sell , I know it sounds stupid but what can you do , if it was on eBid then contact support , tell them , and best of luck............papa.

Thanks for the replies, in UK by placing an item for sale and then taking money for it (which by accepting an instant Paypal payment he did), you have entered into a contract of sale. This is more stringent for a business seller as this person is (he is VAT registered) than for a private seller.

I've contacted eBid support as suggested to see what they suggest. Interestingly this is only the 2nd or 3rd time that I've used eBid and I run across this type of practice - in years and hundreds of purchases on eBay I've not once seen this - I hope it isn't symptomatic of eBid!

I just had the exact opposite happen. A buyer bought an expensive bulky item that was listed for local pickup only. They then paid for it via PayPal. They now refuse to drive the 1500 miles to pick up the item. I just refunded them via PayPal without extracting the fees PayPal charged me. I have requested they please refund my PayPal fees. I'm a very small individual seller and cannot afford to absorb the large PayPal fee. I know I won't have a problem getting my fees back from eBid. I've already contacted support with documentation.

I listed a couple items for my hubby. He said 'eighty quid each.' Between his Welsh accent and my American ears, I heard 'eight quid.' Needless to say, someone snatched them up quickly, had a bargain, and never said thanks or left feedback!! oh well........live and learn. Double check your listings....but if that's how it's listed, then finish the deal!
