    Exactly my view. They decided to increase the pension age over here - when I first heard it my reaction was: That's ridiculous, when we have a serious unemployment problem at the younger end of the spectrum. There should be a "natural progression" in the employment ladder - drop off it when you reach a certain age to make space for the younger generation.

    Much of the voluntary work is already done by pensioners. Will there be tests to make sure that people are not skiving when they stop due to ill-health? The man is a semi-automatic mouth who should have no hand in our government. Perhaps he would like to do voluntary caring instead?

    I thought it said he was retired already, Madelaine...................I took that to mean he wasn't in gov. Maybe I'm wrong, tho it would be the first time, I assure you!

    He's in the House of Lords - part of our legislature - mostly a checks & balances thing if I remember my Civics lessons correctly.
