Thread: Eliminate or reduce banner ads on top of store hompage

  1. #1

Default Eliminate or reduce banner ads on top of store hompage

Currently the banner ads which are placed at the top of our store home pages has a result of lowering our store banners half way down the screen.

The first row of items is just partially visible above the fold. This most certainly detracts from the buyer's ability to scan the store front page, and diminishes the visual impact of everyone's store.

I am not certain when this revision to a larger banner occurred, however it does and will have a visual impact upon everyone's storefront.

The buyer's eye is now focused on the ad banner, rather than the store banner, which usually identifies the store and the store's owner.

Please do something about the ad banner.

I disagree kozersky. The ad banners vary in design/wording etc. etc. so I don't think they detract from your store. If you feel strongly about it then my suggestion would be to make your store banner more prominent in the use of colour and only you can make that decision.

So you do not mind that a full page view of your store is not visible to a buyer?

If a potential buyer goes to my store, which they would have had to click on, then I would think they would be more interested in my store rather than the ad. In my store the buyer would see xxx amount of listings rather than 1 ad offering something they may not wish to buy.

This was-is from Gazza on Feb. 24, 2013 in another thread.

You can opt out of ads on your listings by stopping uploads to Google Shopping.. Go to My eBid > My Defaults to select this.

FBNeNotes, apparently I will have to do the same as you, as I do not want my home page to be displayed this way.

As you can see, only half of the home page is seen, while the ad banner is prominently displayed for the buyer.

Thanks for the reminder. I was reluctant in accepting the ads within my item description, but more than unwilling to do so on my store home page.

I just closed one store and opted out of the Google Shopping ads on the others - all the clutter has disappeared.

The more US members that opt out of Google uploads the less eBid are charged. Or are they?
Are you uploading to Google yourselves?

Edit: Having re-read the post by Gazza, ..."other countries will follow." Can we have more info please?
Like Jan (jeweleffects) the ads don't bother me either but I, and maybe other members, could do with the extra info regarding uploads.
