The rule is 1 thread which you can bump once every 24 hours by adding more information (by responding to yourself).

If you start a 2nd thread, you must DELETE the 1st thread not CLOSE it.

Closing a thread (which I do) hinders anyone from responding to my post (therefore bumping me up unintentionally).

Closed threads will still have the same exposure as an open thread therefore you are able to open it to add updated information by responding to yourself and bumping up to the top of the list.

Actually, I think it would be a good thing to be able to have a thread for each individual store that a seller has. Although each would have to be used strictly for plugging that particular store. I remember trying to plug items in all my stores in one thread got to be somewhat cumbersome. Of course, a seller wouldn't necessarily need to plug every store every 24 hours, but it would be handy for stores that were set up to handle different types of merchandise.

While a seller that didn't have a store would be limited to just plugging their listings in one thread, they would still have the ability to plug their listings that weren't connected to a store. Although it would give those with multiple stores a bit more coverage it might encourage some without stores to set up a couple.

In addition to sellers being restricted to promoting only one particular store in a particular thread, I would probably limit those sellers with stores to only having a thread for each store and not having an additional one for their non-store available items. Thus a seller with 5 stores could only have 5 threads, but even sellers without a store would be able to have one thread to plug their items.

Of course, this is just an idea, but I think it is something that is worth kicking around a bit.

Do people actually read the plug threads? I know that I never look at them.

Actually, Mel, since it would only be seen by those using the forums. I probably isn't too big a deal.

1 per shop would be nice, and the 24 hr rule could be per shop owner. It'll work for me, but maybe to complicated

Like others, I do not open a Plug auction thread. Unless of course it contains wording in the title I may be interested in like The Simpsons, Rocket Science in Joliet or Family Guy.

How about for those who do wish to plug their auctions maybe have them pop up instead of closing, popular or newly listed auctions which pop up on the side of the forum page.
With all the different threads in the forums a "Plug" thread doesn't stay at the top or front page for long. Pick an auction everyday to have pop up on the side. Picture would show along with the title, has a clickable link and may draw more attention then a plug.

if there are too many threads of the plug my auctions forum, people will not bother to scroll through them all.

I'm thinking along the left side of forum pages where new listings/closing listings show now.
