Just seen an advert for Save the Children - not 3rd world countries but our own UK Kids.
Is this what our Government wants - shame on our Government.
We are not 3rd world and should be looking after our kids - they are our future.

Save the Children is trying to support the most disadvantaged children in British society.
However, even those British children at the top of the pile are going to have very hard lives in this country. If they go to University, they will graduate loaded with debt up to their eyeballs to pay for their education. Most of them will never be able to afford to buy a home of their own because we have had a 40 year long residential property asset bubble and property prices are too high. And these are the children that the future prosperity and social well being of this country will depend upon.
It is a strange phenomenon that in a country where there is more than enough wealth to be shared around most of the children of today will have worse lives economically than their parents. And it is a mark of the failure of successive Governments of all political colours that organisations such as Save the Children identify the need to operate support programmes here in the UK.
totally agree. Nothing much for the kids today's future. I know my son is toying with the idea of immigrating to Canada. I know selfishly I dont what him to go but I think it would give him a better standard of living. As it stands - he will have a uni debt to pay but if, and when, he gets a job relatively locally he wont earn enough to pay the fees back. N.Yorkshire jobs pays very little.
Doesn't this say as much about parents as children?
How could you eat yourself, and not feed your child?
Deliberate cruelty aside, what goes on these people's minds?

The majority of mothers put their children first and go hungry themselves if need be. If a child's home means that a parent is neglecting them by not feeding them then maybe the social workers should investigate and take the child away - there is no excuse for a child not to eat over the weekend. But then again families are now using foodbanks - so it does mean money isnt available to buy food. I do think though that the younger generation tend to have no cooking skills and feed their children stoge (processed food) and don't realise how important it is for a growing child to eat a decent meal with veg.
As our mother often did when I and my siblings were kids. I didn't discover the truth behind her "I'm not hungry" response when we queried why she wasn't eating with us until many years later.
