My experience flying with Malaysian airline recently, four flights in all is that they have fantastic staff who do their best to look after you.

However, my partner who is Chinese received pretty poor service compared to me. There are well known racial tensions between majority Malays and minority Chinese which surface from time to time, mainly along the lines of Malays wanting special treatment to offset the affluence of Chinese who have a stronger presence in business. Chinese Malaysians have to pay more tax than Malays, and there are no grants for higher education, unlike Malays.

It is not so long ago that chinese malaysians were banned by Malaysia from travelling to mainland China.

My friends and relatives in Kuala Lumpur, who admittedly are all Chinese, say that government officials and directors of Malaysia airlines will all be putting on their teflon coats to make sure no blame can attach to them. Whatever they know, they will not admit if it looks bad.

The four flights? One was eight hours late because they couldn't shut the door, two were four hours late for unstated reasons, and the outbound from London was only two hours late.

An announcement from Malaysian President admitting that they had tracking information that had traced the route of the plane after it's last pilot message. He said the "movements are consistent with the deliberate action of someone on the plane".

Now we'll have the speculative journalism about who did it.
