Thread: Hello all im new here and have come over from ebay

  1. #1

Default Hello all im new here and have come over from ebay

im just getting to grips with this as its very different to ebay, ive finally got my first items up for sell. some of which are uk only due to weight. I have not had many views on my items as was just wondering how this site works for all of you. is there something I should be doing to bring more view in or is it just like ebay where you list and then sit back and wait?

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Hello and welcome to ebid, ebid is slow and you will need to promote your items. Use the ISBN/UPC/EAN/MPN (Barcode) box if you have a barcode or isbn number, if not put exempt in this box and this should ensure an upload to google. Also use Pinterest and twitter and facebook links and promote your items

Good luck and may you have many sales

Hi and welcome to eBid. Posted this to another thread, but it might be helpful here as well.

Some suggestions, if you haven't already tried them:

    1) Add a signature link to your posts, so members can click to view your listings.
    2) List as many items as you can; it's free to list and relist and the more items you list, the more potential sales.
    3) Use 7-10 day listings with auto repost to ensure your items move up searches.
    4) Let former customers from other sites know you're selling here.
    5) Use social networking (Twitter, Facebook, personal blog, etc.) to promote your listings.
    6) Use Plug Your Auctions on the forum (1x per 24 hours - delete old plug before adding new one) to promote your listings.
    7) Offer international shipping whenever possible to widen your potential customer base.
    8) Tell everyone you know and meet about eBid.
    9) Buy a few inexpensive items to increase your feedback and support the site.
    10) Get involved in eBid activities, as the monthly YDC charity auctions, if you're so inclined; it's a great way to raise monies for good causes and it helps raise your profile in the eBid community.
    11) Check out the Help videos and read Astral's FAQs page, lots of good info. in both places.

    Oh and have fun.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

welcome i have just come over from eBay who treat good sellers abominably they are the pits but they can fall just like Nokia and Blackberry Tell everybody about eBid .You need to promote a lot more here but with persistence it will start to work
if you have no barcode you can use the brand box too

Hi all newbies - I also joined last month and currently adding items to my shop. I am pleased to say that through sales on here I have recopued my initial seller+ fee and into profit

I do get a lot more views for my items on here than on the other site, however, sales are a little slow, but then I only have a few items to choose from at the moment. I'm confident that with a full shop and a wide variety of items with a lower price than the other site because of the lower FVL's sales will increase. I would really like to see this site grow and grow, especially if it could overtake the other site - wouldn't that be lovely

    Good luck everyone!

    Hi.. just some input..

If you are still selling on Ebay, use every despatch as a marketing tool for your Ebid outlet.
Make up a proforma sheet using Excel.. or preferably Word as you can copy/paste Ebid and Paypal logo into a Word doc.. you should be able to get 8 compliment slips per portrait A4.
Use your browser searchbar to get a direct link to your listings, mine is : http://uk.ebid.net/items/fishing4pennies .. and print it on your complimentary slip so as to direct repeat buyers to your Ebid outlet.
In my case I emphasize that they can get the same items a lot cheaper and still safe payment via PayPal.
    Hope this helps.. :-)
    Marco
