Thread: Listings flat and categories keep increasing!!!!!!!!

  1. #1

Default Listings flat and categories keep increasing!!!!!!!!

Come on Ebidders why why why all the category requests??

The dark side has 100x more listings yet only a few thousand more categories.
The categories over there are easy to navigate here they are cumbersome.
The categories over there are full here many are empty or only have a few items.

Continually adding categories makes the "shelves" appear empty, not what buyers are looking for.

I started to list again here and then came into the category situation and it all came back to me why I stopped listing here in the first place!!!!

What wasted potential and squandered opportunities.

Certain things seem so obvious to me ie: bid column, easy to navigate categories etc etc..

PS To all of you that may say " post this elsewhere" the kitchen table is to, and I quote, " Chat About Anything" I think this would fall under anything

Ok let me have it, tell me how perfect things are.

Things are not perfect - I keep asking for category changes that don't happen

However, I agree with you that listing is the way to go. We need full shelves. I'm doing my best.

I too am doing my best but I do regularly request a top level Handmade catagory as i think it would attract the Etsy / Folksy buyers and it would clear up the handmade items that are dotted all over the place.

I think one reason there are so many requests is eBid's stern warning that anything listed in the wrong category will be removed! When we moved here, I panicked because many of the collectibles we wanted to list could not be placed in any existing category. Since then I've figured out that (1) this warning is not enforced, and (2) there are so many categories I'm not sure a potential buyer would wade through them looking for something specific. I certainly don't when I'm looking for something.

I'm not sure what the solution is. When we started, there was just the category "Africa" in stamps. When eBid added all the countries in Africa, I had to change over 400 listings. Then they expanded the categories for Canadian stamps. Not fun. Even if eBid had the manpower to make extensive changes, do we want to go through all our listings and change them accordingly?
