Thread: "Closing the thread before a fight develops" - What!

It would have been more productive if, instead of berating me for closing it, a fresh thread had been started. Hopefully the two antagonists on the original thread would have left the new thread alone (though likely not as one party had to start and close their own thread just to have the last word ).
As soon as the people participating in the conversation changes, sometimes the best option is to close the thread opposed to it being deleted. Good move Astral.

To reply to Marie - my point about Canadian spelling is exactly as you say - Tire is the US spelling and Centre the UK one - to see the two in the same expression is almost comic.

I don't believe I was berating you for closing the thread - I understood why you did it.

I was remarking that it was a pity that this interesting discussion had to be stopped when it was being enjoyed by other posters, because of the childish antics of a couple of neds.

Well this thread's title, and the second and third paragraph of your initial post read to me that you considered I had acted improperly/unreasonably in closing my thread.

Still... as it was done to curtail an argument I'm not going to get into one with you here.

    Ah, you saw that.
I had hoped that my request for support to delete it was made early enough for most people to have missed seeing it.

i did not see anything in any posts in that thread that were childish, you obviously had a difference of opinion, but more information came out from you and the other poster on the subject that added to the debate,

Oh, tell the truth, Mel. You leave Moo at the computer while you sleep and when you wake Moo fills you in on the things you've missed.

Hmmm, I didn't realise it would take that long.

Thank you, Sid. That's what I thought, too. However, judging by the other party's later response, it would seem that Astral did the right thing(k).
