Anyone know what is inscribed in the stone? Am wondering if it is something to do with an old corn exchange or something similar. Address is: 34 St. Helens Street, Ipswich, Suffolk. Though it looks very similar to the buildings to the right - which look like some sort of militia barracks.

Suffolk County Court.

The whole building is the old County Hall.Apparently the courthouse was where Mrs Simpson got divorced in 1936.In a sad state of disrepair now.

I can see it now you say it. I think I was trying to make it say Corn.

Not sure if it is what I am looking for then, I have it as an address for someone in the early 1800s who was a Corn Merchant. Maybe the street numbering has changed or the actual 34 was not a part of the courts just part of the same or a similar build.

I see it (the hall) was built c1836, so it would have existed in the time period I am looking at.

The Corn Exchange, now a theatre, is in King Street.
