Default Numbers of viewers have been reduced

Just logged in this evening to find a number of my items have had their viewer numbers reduced. For example, all the items in my Original Small paintings store had viewer numbers in double figures (e.g 15, 18, etc). Now this evening, all bar one of them have been reduced to single figures. I think the same may have happened to some items in my Artists Tools store as well, but I can't be precise. Any ideas why? It's not very helpful.

The viewing numbers have never worked properly for as long as I can remember ! I never take any notice of them anyway as a lot of them are 'bots and web spiders so give no indication of how many humans are actually looking at your listings.

I cannot help you as far as why they have changed. I dont pay much attention to mine either no matter what site I am on - with that said though, i will use them if i am trying to decide which auctions to put back on first. Even if it is only bots - not humans - my thought is they got attention for some reason and when undecided about what else to list, i go to this to decide. I figure it cant hurt.

Hi Cvarr, Cornishmaid.....yes, I had thought of using the figures in relation to whether or not to relist things.....but I'm just amazed at how the numbers can actually go down! Like being on a starship in a time-travel scenario. Since many of my items are new, they get listed on Google, so the viewing numbers are quite important. It would be nice if the web-spiders could actually place orders...

If you wanted more meaningful stats on you listings, you coul open a statcounter account and place he code into each of your listings.

This may be a silly question, but unless you opt in to having the counter figures retained, they automatically reset on each relisting. It may be a good idea to check the settings and see if it is enabled.

@lofty....a number of my listings have been through auto repost and their viewing numbers did not change. They only changed for the first time this evening. Some of my items are run-till-sold and even their view numbers have gone down. I don't have time to double-check all lists tonight but will do so asap just to satisfy myself. @sherlock, I wasn't aware that Statcounter code could be added to listings. I already have an account with them, so I can go check it all out tomorrow. (yawn) 'night for now.

Couple of years ago, I remember one time I listed an item and within 5 minutes I had about 1000 views - next day it was down to something more believable - about 15 views. Other members had experienced something similar.

We've made a small change today that should fix the caching system for views when it is forced to restart as it was yesterday.

All my views have been reset, even though I have chosen "No" for "Reset Views on Auto-Repost?". Can anyone help ?
