Thread: Force zero feedback sellers to use escrow?

As a new arrival I have read this thread with interest, I obviously have zero feedback here at the moment, but 100% over on Greedbay. I can fully understand buyers caution from zero sellers or if the item is high value. But feedback is there for a reason and very little effort is required to check it out, including whether it was acquired buy buying low priced items.

I recently bought a digital camera, but read an awful lot of feedback including some negatives before deciding to go ahead. I had no problem as I had done my research.

You often see things on TV where people are conned and wonder why they were so stupid. Some people are not cautious enough, and whilst we should protect them as far as possible, don't make things too difficult for the majority.

If they don't choose to use Escrow and buy from a zero seller that is their choice at the end of the day.

So a fraudulent seller can make possibly hundreds of thousands of pounds by NOT using escrow, but a fraudulent buyer can only make ONE fraudulent purchase, 50% of the time (I'm completely guessing here), and that's it.
I wouldn't be happy though if i was the seller of the laptop to the fraudulant buyer who could get away with it once!
£500 is to much to lose for most people and the fact that the buyer wouldn't be able to do it again wouldn't be consolation enough i'm afraid .

Sorry to dissect your post but it was far to long to put it all in and this was the only bit that particually stuck out to me .

I'm sure you wouldn't be happy if you were the seller of the laptop - but my point of giving this example was to explain why fraudulent sellers are far more common than fraudulent buyers.

What happens in non-escrow transactions, if a buyer buys a £500 laptop and claims that it's faulty, then sends back a brick in a box to the seller? This is no different than the escrow situation.

Using escrow, the majority of fraud is stopped, because, as I've explained in great detail, the majority of fraud is committed by sellers, and escrow stops that. I've sold 4,000 items on Greedbay and never once had a buyer try to rip me off as you've described, which doesn't mean it can't happen, or doesn't happen, just that it's very, very rare indeed, so rare as to not to outweigh by any means, the benefits of escrow.

Don't let this thread worry you too much Hun. It should be made compulsory for the original poster to be zipped to honest.
