What about putting it in bubble wrap and then in one of those hard cardboard tubes that you can get for posters etc.?

plenty of layers of single or bubble wrap and in a box/carton you can pick them up in a supermarket for free - scrunch up newspaper to cushion the bubblewrapped bottle well from the sides of the box

used to sell alot of fragile antiques and thats the way i did it....cant go wrong

Well what I would do is get a huge box, (at least 20x the size of bottle!) and wad the bottle in the middle with newspaper, bubble wrap, etc. Even if they decide to play football with it, bottle won't be broken!
And DON'T put fragile on it....asking for trouble!
