Thread: HTML Code Missing in Auction Descriptions

  1. #1

    Exclamation HTML in Auction Descriptions...MISSING

I have already sent a support email request and Tech Support advised they are working on the matter.....

I uploaded several auction item data via the upload procedure....within my Data was HTML code for my auction Descriptions.....that said, the Data
was excepted and ALL items were posted; however, 75% of my HTML code describing the auction item were missing. Each description only displays the very first part of my HTML code and nothing else.....

No replys from Tech Support as of yet except the knowledge there looking into the matter....just wanted others to know and see if they had any similar upload problems as this.

    Thanks

    Thumbs down Update...!!

    Just an update.....

Support did respond with 2 additional emails.....the later stating the problem had been resolved; however, after CLOSING, DELETING 424 Individual Auctions, I re-submitted a Data Upload with those 424 Individual Auction Items.....Recieved my Confirmation email advising the Upload was successful......but to my dismay....checking on those auctions I see the HTML code is AGAIN missing CODE pertinent to the description......

I again sent support a email with an example auction.... the code within that auction as it looks presently....and the HTML code that was suppose to be there.....

    I'll keep you Posted...!!!
Anybody else missing code after an upload..??

Can I see your htm code ? I had a quick look at the source code of one of your auctions and you are using vivaldi and bradley hand ITS fonts this might cause a problem with the uploading script but I cant tell for sure unless you can post your whole htm code.

use the code # tags to post it..
    Code:
    <font face="Bradley Hand ITC" size="5">

    Hi Michael

Found the problem, you have some instances of ~~ in your descriptions. This is clashing with our syntax decoder. If you remove these from your description you will be ok straight away if you try again.

We will work on a solution so this doesnt happen again.
    Thanks

No fair lol You seen the whole code before me

Yep after seeing the whole code its not the font however it is best to stick to the basic fonts Arial Verdana etc as the viewer may not have that font on the system and it can change the look .

Looking at the cut off point in the effected code and the posted code it's clear to see its the text syntax ~~ thats causing the problem.

I would like to know if others are causing problems ? <??> /**/ etc etc and see if cuts off at the point its inserted

    Thumbs down

I again Closed, Deleted, and Resent My 424 Auction Items via the Bulk Upload .....
    I then recieved a email
    Hi indycosignments,

Here are the results of your BulkUpload.

Successful auctions may take up to an hour to appear on category pages but should be visible via searching immediately.

A total of 85 were successfully uploaded.

Thanks for using eBid for your auctions.

    Happy Bidding!!
    eBid Auction Team
Now All those posted were showing the description just fine....I revamped my HTML code and that seemed to do the trick...;however, WHAT HAPPENED to the other "339" Auction Data...

I again sent an email to support for their Imput and Explanation....my suspicion is ....it is with the HTML code again ...something missing??

Default Revamped Code for HTML Descriptions

    Hey All...and Support,

Here is an example of the revamped HTML Code that I did for my Auction Item.....
This is for the Auction Item: http://us.four.ebid.net/perl/auction...133&mo=auction

    The CODE:

    Code:
    <p align="center"><strong><font face="Arial Narrow" size="3">Quality -T- Shirts</font></strong><font size="+0"><br /><font color="#008000"><font face="Arial Narrow" size="2">&quot; </font></font></font><strong><font face="Arial Narrow" size="1" color="#008000">SUPER BELT DESIGN</font></strong><font size="+0"><font color="#008000"><font face="Arial Narrow" size="2"> &quot;</font></font><br /><font face="Arial Narrow" size="1">From</font><br /><font color="#ff9933"><strong>I</strong></font><font face="Arial Narrow"><font color="#ff9933"><strong>NDY-T- SHIRTS</strong></font><br />The <font color="#008000"><strong>Tee Shirt Design</strong></font> is Titled the same as the <font color="#008000"><strong>Auction Title</strong></font>. The Shirts<span>&nbsp; </span>are of &quot;<font color="#ff9933"><strong>Good Quality Material</strong></font>&quot;. These are not Cheap Imprints or Cheap Silk-Screened.<br /><span>&nbsp;</span><br />SIZES AVAILABLE :<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; LARGE,<span>&nbsp; </span>X-LARGE<br /></span></font></font></p>
    See the Difference......!!

Looking over my Data File I uploaded to eBid...the 85 that posted fine was also were my data HTML changed slightly and I believe there was a
    Code:
     < /p>
missing at the end of the next group....but should the email I recieved stated that something was wrong....and given me an error message for each..... they did before and did not post ANY actions unless everyone of the Data cells were correct.....HMMMMM!!

  10. #10

    Thumbs up All Done!!

All is well....I see that all my 424 Auctions have been posted and it appears that they are displaying correctly....Finally

    Thanks to support....ALL DAY!!
