Have you made use of the add-ons manager yet?

It may only be one or two that are causing problems for the rest.

Couple of things to try:
First, a really obvious one: Look through add/remove programs in Control Panel for the major plug-ins (Flash, SVG, Shockwave, Snapshot, etc), and remove as neccessary, then reinstall from the downloads section of the site in question (eg, www.adobe.com/downloads for the Macromedia Flash stuff).
Secondly, if that doesn't work - try a profile reset. This won't work for everyone and is dependant on how you've got your OS set up to work. If you're using NT/2K/XP (making an assumption I know) and you use different log-ons for different people on the PC, each user will have a profiles folder in the "Documents and Settings" folder in the root of your C: drive.
To reset your own profile, you'll need to create a (temporary) new user with admin rights on the PC (do this through the user's applet in Control Panel). Sign in as this new user, navigate to the "documents and settings" folder, locate the folder name matching your logon ID, and rename it to .old (ie, if the login were called "bob", change it to "bob.old").
Now log off your temporary admin ID and sign back in as "bob".
You'll find that your documents and desktop shortcuts have been reset to default - don't worry. Try your browser with the add-ins that were previously faulty. If they work, great! You'll just need to copy your personalisation back from the .old profile into the same folder names in the new profile (ie, copy the contents of c:\documents and settings\bob.old\my documents to c:\documents and settings\bob\my documents).
I find that, in my role as IT Support at work, 50% of the problems we have to deal with in the user base can be resolved with a user profile reset on the client.
PS - you *might* wanna get rid of the temporary admin account you just created to get yourself outta this pickle when you're done with it.
