Gazza - has the randomising of more by this seller been implemented ?

I've just checked a random selection of 20 or so of my listings and they all have the same "More By This Seller" items listed.

As far as I am aware the list of "More By This Seller" items, is the same for all your listing and changes with time - a bit like the closing auctions does to the left of here - I am not sure how often they change though.

Thanks Jo - I always thought that list was dynamically updated and entirely random but perhaps that caused too much strain on eBid's system resources and they had to change it?

Or, of course, there is the more plausible explanation that I'm slightly mad and just made it all up. In which case just nod your head, smile politely and move on quickly....

It WAS fixed and changed regularly

it's now back to being broken or "stuck"

I remember reading somewhere a post by gazza saying that he might have to go back to just showing the same items EVERY time for EVERY auction....... and I remember thinking at that time - If it comes to that I hope he removes the "more by this seller" mod altogether if it does.......

So here we are again - back to square one!

wont bother getting uptight about it though - too stressful.

BUT I do wish I had the power to remove it myself

We went from MBTS hardly ever changing (apart from when a highlighted auction closed) to changing every page load (which we ran for about 4 months and as I expected slowed down the page load too much) to what we have now which is a 30 minute cache. This means the product range will vary exactly 30 minutes after the current range is first seen. This has been running now for about 3 weeks and we are happy with the outcome.

Thanks Gazza - sounds like a pretty good compromise between listing visibility and loading speed to me even though it would be nice to have it back to totally dynamic one day (and/or user-defined cross-promoted items).
