How smart is Your Right Foot?
Just try this. It is from an orthopedic surgeon............ This will boggle your mind and you will keep trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your foot, but you can't. It's preprogrammed in your brain!

1. While sitting where you are at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.
2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction!

I told you so!!! And there's nothing you can do about it! You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done you are going to try it again, if you've not already done so.

Fascinating phenomenon, with a very simple explanation - but try another experiment first.

1. Put your arms out in front of you, and move both your hands in a clockwise direction. Easy, isn't it?

2. Now, with arms out in front, move the left hand anti-clockwise, and the right clockwise.

That's easy, as well, isn't it?

3. Now try moving your right hand and your right foot clockwise. Again, easy done.

4. Lastly (and this is similar to your experiment) move your right hand clockwise, and your right foot anti-clockwise. Now that's difficult!

Simple explanation - your right side is controlled by your left brain, and your left side is controlled by your right brain.

So, in No 1, you are asking both sides of your brain to do the same thing. Not a problem.

No 2, you are asking your left brain to do one thing, and your right brain to do another. Again, after a moments concentration, it's simple.

No 3, you are asking your left brain to do 2 similar movements. Not a problem.

No 4, you are asking your left brain to do 2 completely opposite things. And it struggles! (Although it can be done, with concentration!). So that is why you find it so hard to do.

In your example, you got your foot moving clockwise, and by drawing the number 6 in the air you are moving your hand anti-clockwise. So, the same explanation as for No. 4.

Sorry if I spoiled the fun with the explanation - you can still try it on your friends, but now you know why it happens!
