    Surely if you are told the reserve, you just need to make 1 bid at the reserve price,

    Or am I missing something here,

    Maybe he didn't believe you really had set the reserve at £150.

    I have a feeling that that is not true, but I could be wrong.
    I believe it goes up in increments like an ordinary auction without reserve.
    Were there p's next to the amount bid?

    the point I was driving at, sends a message to ask, what is the reserve,

    cant wait for a reply, so sets off on the fishing trip,

    3 hours later, gets the sellers mesage telling him what the reserve is,
    THEN BIDS UPTO THE RESERVE,

    then loses out ,to my one bid increment above the reserve,

    got myself a nice cheap gold necklace,
