I think that if you come on to the forum and need to sign in, it is because they have had it down for a bit? Happened to me last time the forum went down.

I had to sign in yesterday, for the first time in months. But haven't had to "Re sign in" since then.
Probably just a one off after a server update or something like that.

It's all in the cookies. If the cookies change or get deleted, then the user will need to sign in again.
